  1. Snowflakes is at risk of losing its rented premises at the end of this year. In order to be able to continue to offer our much-needed services to families and children with autism in the north Dublin and surrounding areas, we need to relocate. There is so much we could do with a community centre of our own – in-house children’s activities that build vital social and communication skills, youth clubs, siblings clubs, student councils, therapeutic sporting activities, subsidised speech, language, occupational and play therapies, parental support groups, workshops, sensory rooms and so much more. We also run coding classes for the kids and we will have a facility in our new premises to train our older Snowflakes in much-needed job skills. Did you know that 80% of young autistic adults are unemployed? What a waste of talent and skill! Together we can change this. €2 and 10 tags is all it takes. Are you ready to make a difference?

  2. To continue to provide subsidised Speech & Language / Occupational Therapies which can help to improve daily living skills, such as toilet training, dressing, brushing teeth, and other grooming skills; fine motor skills required for holding objects while handwriting or cutting with scissors; gross motor skills used for walking or riding a bike, sitting, posture, or perceptual skills, such as telling the differences between colours, shapes and sizes; visual skills for reading and writing. Speech therapy can improve overall communication. This makes it possible for children with autism to improve their ability to form relationships and function in day-to-day life.

To continue to offer Subsidised Play Therapy. Play Therapy is a method of working with children who need help in dealing with their emotional and behavioural issues. Play Therapy provides them with the opportunity to “play out” their thought, feelings and problems in a non-directive way, in a safe environment with a caring therapist.

  3. To continue to provide social and sporting activities for autistic children and their siblings, including fun days out for the family and support for parents. We also run youth clubs and organise therapeutic activities such as horse-riding and swimming. Our emphasis is on building skills in a safe environment.
