Projects

  1. This year we will continue our provision of services for deaf and hard of hearing people. These vital services include: making telephone calls, assisting with translating and filling in forms, translating information into Irish Sign Language (ISL), explaining legal right and assisting with employment issues and legal issues

  2. Deaf Advocacy Services is a Deaf-led confidential service providing support and information for Deaf people through their first language Irish Sign Language (ISL). Many Deaf people can be left vulnerable and lonely and have difficulty finding employment and at our drop in centre we work to ensure a sense of protection and safety with the welfare of the Deaf community.

  3. The IDS Deaf Adult Literacy Service organises Day and Evening classes for Deaf people nationwide. All our classes are free and funded by the Department of Education and Skills and SOLAS. Courses that we provide include English, Numeracy, Personal Development, Computers, Driving Theory Test, Accounting and a range of various computer courses. We are also QQI licensed and accredited and offer certified courses when possible. As of Mid-2016, we have provided classes for 600 individual Deaf and Hard of hearing people nationwide.
