Hi everyone, My name is Sophie Guionneau, I’m a 1st year studentin Landscape Architecture in UCD (Dublin). This summer, I will be going to Nicaragua with the UCD Volunteering Overseas society for a month to take partin an amazing development programme.  UCD Volunteering Overseas initiated its first project in Nicaragua in 2007 in the village of San Isabel near the town of Somoto, in northern Nicaragua. Locals identified the need for a Health Centre and the supply of water as their principal needs.  In partnership with SILIAS the governmentalhealth organisation, UCDVO volunteers and locals, built a health centre andpaid for the drilling and supply of water to the village. In 2008, volunteers built another Health Centre in El Kairo with funding from Irish Aid. Since 2009, volunteers have been based in the town of Somoto and collaborate with a number of NGOs implementing educational and construction projects. This year, it is my turn to offer help by participating inthis great project. Along with twenty three other volunteers, I will be completing construction of a school; teaching and doing community work in San Isabel. And so today, I am using the incredible progress in technology to ask you to help me fund this project that will help the childrenin San Isabel. Donations big or small would make a tremendous difference, and will contribute towards funding the materials for the project in the village (I will be funding all of my personal costs through a weekend job I have been doing since October).  I will let you know how your contribution was used through updates on the work when we return from Nicaragua.Many many thanks,Sophie Xx
