My Story
Hello everyone. This summer I have been given the incredible opportunity to travel to Andhra Pradesh in South India to volunteer with UCD Volunteers Overseas for 4 weeks. I will be travelling with 5 other physiotherapy students as part of my elective placement to provide physiotherapy to children in the Asha Jyothi Handicapped Welfare Society. We will be providing much needed physiotherapy to disabled children from underprivileged backgrounds. Their disabilities range from cerebral palsy to polio and they are in desperate need of rehabilitation. We will also be working in conjunction with the community through home visits to provide education and to ensure that our work continues even after we return home. Every volunteer is asked to raise a minimum of €1200 which goes directly to the project. These funds help to provide the centre with the rehabilitation equipment they need such as wheelchairs and walking aids. Any contribution no matter how small would be much appreciated. Thank you
