My Story
Hello! My name is Seánagh Fitzpatrick and I'm a second year Social Science student in UCD. I have been selected on the UCD Voulunteer Overseas programme to work on a community development programme in the North East region of India (Assam) and have to fundraise €2600. My team consists of Irish and Indian volunteers, where we will be working with local NGOs, missionaries and other student groups in order to implement the programmes. We will be working within the community where we will be hosting communicative English classes for women, as well as providing seminars on topics such as hygiene, domestic violence and alcholism. We shall be refurbishing pre-school type facilites called Anganwadies, which are information centres regarding women and children's health. The projects aim is to address issues such as domestic violence, alcoholism and early school leavers through a system of support networks. Thank you so much in advance for your time and generosity, I really appreciate it!! :)
