Hi everyone! I have been lucky enough to be selected to travel to Uganda for four weeks in June 2020, as part of a UCD overseas volunteering program. I, along with 20 other UCD students will travel to Nansana in Uganda where we will work with our partner organisation, Nurture Africa, who works to nurture the mental, physical and emotional development of AIDS/HIV affected children and orphans. During our four week program, we will be based in the Nurture Africa health centre.  Activities include operating rehabilitation camps for children with disabilities, health education workshops and community visits. We will also continue some of the work carried out by previous volunteers such as maintenance of the rehabilitation unit and other facilities developed in previous projects.  To achieve this goal, each of us must raise €2,650 minimum. About half of this will cover travel, training and accommodation costs. The other half will directly support the project by providing all materials for the rehabilitation camp and all equipment and materials for both the children and education workshops.  I would greatly appreciate any donations big or small towards this project and it will go a long way in helping these children and their communities.
