Hi all, I'm signed up for Strictly to raise money for Self Help Africa. Self Help Africa is a development NGO which works in ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa including: Uganda, Ethiopia, Malawi and Burkina Faso.  They support a range of projects, building sustainability in rural communities where many people rely on the land for their income. One of their projects, for example, is to build farmers’ resilience to climate change in Burkina Faso. Burkina Faso is a country least responsible for climate change, with very low carbon emissions, yet is particularly vulnerable to the impact of climate change.  Many people living here suffer from increasing drought spells and food shortages as a result of changing weather patterns. Self Help Africa works here to support farmers in responding to climate change with the use of drought resistant seeds and new farming practices.   Another current area of work is helping thousands of households in Malawi to combat the devastating invasion by Fall Armyworm which is destroying maize and other cereal crops on which families depend. This Strictly takes place on the 9th June.
