This year I have been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to travel to Kisiizi Hospital in Uganda with UCD Volunteers Overseas. For four weeks this summer, I will be travelling to Kisiizi Hospital in Uganda along with a team of students consisting of physiotherapy, medicine, nutrition and nursing students. Together, we hope to work with the locals with education, healthcare and community development. More specifically for 3 other physiotherapy students and myself, we will be providing our services via treatment and physiotherapy programmes for local families and children.Conditions we will encounter at Kisiizi Hospital include Cerebral Palsy, and while we will provide hands on therapy for these people, it is also our aim to provide the necessary tools and education to families so that they can continue this treatment in their own homes. Each volunteer is asked to raise a minimum of €1400. All of these funds are allocated to the costs of the project for example, construction of schools, houses, educational resources, physiotherapy equipment etc. I would be eternally grateful for any donation of any size. I can assure you that all of your generous donations will be put to great use. I will update you to where your kind offerings have gone and the huge difference they have made!
