Hey guys,                                                                                                                                                                                                                   My name is Róisín Rice and I am a third year Biomedical Engineering student in UCD.  Next summer 2018, I have been given the amazing opportunity to travel to Morogoro in Tanzania with UCD Volunteers Overseas to spend 4 weeks volunteering in local schools.                                                                                                         My day-to-day role while on project will vary from providing computer training to local teachers, summer camps for children, teaching English language classes, and working on library development projects.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       UCDVO first sent a group of volunteers to Morogoro in 2009.  Since then, volunteers have continued to work in Morogoro, Mikumi and Ruaha on computer education programmes, classroom refurbishments, summer camps for children and the distribution of books and educational resources, as well as the construction of a basketball court at Kihonda secondary school.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Key Achievements of UCDVO 2009-2017:                                                                                                                                        ·       Over 700 computers transported from Ireland to Tanzania                                                                                 ·       36 schools in Tanzania have participated in our programme                                                                         ·       Provided training for approximately 780 teachers                                                                                           ·       English language classes for teachers and children in project schools                                                 ·       Constructionof basketball court in Kihonda Secondary school                                                                       ·       School refurbishment projects                                                                                                                                     ·       Library development projects – books are provided to schools each year                                         ·       Interactive education workshops for school children                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  My fundraising goal for this project is €2600, this will cover costs including flights and accommodation and will also go towards the development of the project, including the purchase of educational resources and equipment.                                                                                                                                                                                                        I will be organizing a number of fundraising events throughout the year and any donation, big or small, is hugely appreciated.                                                                                                                                                                                  Thank you for taking the time to read this!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Róisín
