My name's Roisin Medina McNamara, I'm a second year Law with Politics student and I've been offered the incredible oppurtunity to volunteer on UCDVOs Nicaragua project this summer. Over the years UCDVO has been working wih Nicaraguan communities to aid them with community-driven projects that addres their most pressing concerns. In 2007 and 2008 the team built Health Centres and constructed a water suppl system in the village in tandem with SILIAS, a government health organisation. Currently, UCD has three projects in San Isbel near the town of Somoto, in northern Nicaragua, one focusing on constuction of classrooms and the others on teaching and community  work. UCDVO is curently  parterned with el Instituto de Promoción Humana (Nicaragua's oldest NGO) and  el Movimiento Communal Nicaraguense.  In order to raise some of the funds necessary for these projects, I will be running the Women's  Mini-Marathon this year and any donations in support of this are a welcome and impactful contribution to these projects. Thank you !
