My Story

Hi! My name is Pauline and I'm a current medical student at University College Dublin (UCD). This summer I have the amazing opportunity to volunteer (virtually) with UCDVO in Tanzania for the Holy Union Sisters at the Matumaini Centre. The word "Matumaini" means "hope" in Swahili, the national language of Tanzania, and hope is at the core of their mission. This inspiring centre not only provides physiotherapy for children with disabilities, but also ensures that those who come will be given something to eat as well. I am blessed to be able to work alongside other volunteers to help support this centre and its patients in the areas of physiotherapy, nutrition, and developmental support.  As a future physician, I am invested in helping support other healthcare institutions and applying the knowledge that I learn in my studies. Please donate here to help me assist the Matumaini centre this summer with all proceeds going directly to the Holy Union Sisters. Thank you, stay safe, and remain hopeful.
