Hey guys,As some of you may know, I'm a third-year physiostudent, and I'm delighted to have been chosen to go to Kisiizi in Uganda next summer.Myself and 4 other physio students will be traveling to Uganda to work alongside3 chartered physiotherapists, Medicine, Nutrition and Nursing Students.We will spend 4 weeks in a hospital in Kisiizi,working with children, many of whom have cerebral palsy. This includes 2 weeks cerebral palsyphysio camp, where children and a carer from rural areas can travel and staythere for intensive treatment over 2 weeks. Some of these children requirephysio intervention and aids to learn how to walk, and therefore, some can be 5years old and never have walked before. There is a strong emphasis on educatingfor the parents so that they can continue to treat their children at home – wewant to ensure continued progression and sustainable development.There will also be 2 weeks of community care, in whichwe travel to areas in the local community. Here we will also be treatingchildren, educating their carers, and giving aids such as wheelchairs, walkersand specialised seating.For this to go ahead I need to fundraise €2,650. Outof this, €1,250 will go towards the hospital, towards aids such as wheelchairs,walking aids, walking frames, specialized seating, prostheses, towards runningthe cerebral palsy camp, and community development projects. The other €1,400go towards my flights, visa, and accommodation. My goal over the next 8 monthsis to make as much as possible. The more I make, the more aids and equipment Ican bring.
