Hello everyone! This year I have got involved with UCD Volunteer Overseas, a part of which is a 4-week placement in Ruaha, Tanzania. This Summer, myself and other volunteers will travel there with the focus of providing sustainable education. Thus, I will be working with school teachers and children in Ruaha to teach English language classes as well as computer education, now a vital aspect of today's technologically driven society. I have been incredibly fortunate to have received a great education and believe we must eliminate the unfairness of unequal opportunity. The individuals I will soon be working with, and all individuals in similar circumstances, have not been given the same chance as we all have, by no fault of their own, and it us up to the more fortunate to help remedy this. It is vital that everyone is given the chance to experience this and with our goal of sustainable education, I genuinely believe this will be achieved! The previous work of Tanzania volunteers has allowed for the transportation of over 700 computers from Ireland to Tanzania, the participation of 36 schools with the training of approx. 780 teachers, school refurbishment projects and library development projects. Having previously volunteered in Nepal, I have personally seen the impact of projects like this on communities, the more personal impact on individuals, be that teachers or children and I wish to continue being part of seeing these remarkable changes, which through some extra support can be achieved! As part of the programme, I must raise 2,650 euro. I would be extremely thankful for any possible donations. There is no amount too small because every cent really does add up! Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read this message. I will keep you all posted on exactly how your support is helping to achieve our goals in the Ruaha community. If anyone has any further questions, please contact me and I'll be more than happy to discuss the project with you. Thank you all so much in advance for your consideration and for taking some time out of your day, Michelle
