My name is Meabh Kennedy. I'm a second year Biology and Chemistry student in University College Dublin and this summer I will be travelling to Morogoro, Tanzania with UCDVO to volunteer in local schools, with students and teachers to work with them to develop sustainable ICT skills. UCDVO is a charitable organization set up with a mission to provide members of the UCD community with opportunities to volunteer for the benefit of disadvantaged communities overseas, in response to needs explicitly identified by those communities. 'VO believes in co-operative and sustainable development where both volunteers and communities work together to slowly but surely improve education, health and quality of life in general in various countries around the world including Tanzania. 'VO is a year long programme involving education workshops, training and of course volunteering overseas for four weeks. It is an amazing opportunity that I am very grateful to have been given. As part of this experience I must raise €2'650, €1'400 of which goes directly to further developing the project over in Morogoro, ie. providing pre-programmed computers to schools, setting up a clean environment for those computers, maintenance of the computers and their programmes in the future, etc. Any donation you can give, big or small would be hugely appreciated and all donations to this page will be going directly to the project and its future sustainability.
