Hi everyone! This year I am taking part in the UCD Volunteers Overseas (UCDVO) Volunteering and Global Citizenship Programme. More specifcally, I am part of the Assam Don Bosco University Project in India. UCDVO is a registered charity which provides UCD students, staff and alumni the opportunity to engage in a year-long volunteering and global citizenship programme for the benefit of disadvantaged communities overseas, in response to needs explicitly identified by those communities.Throughout the next year, I will participate in a series of UCDVO Programme Days, including development education workshops, training and team-building activities before and after virtual volunteering takes place. Next July, I will volunteer virtually for a 4-week period, working collaboratively with the Department of Social Work in Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU). The Department of Social Work trains students to plan and execute an extensive range of social services and social welfare activities. UCDVO has been working with ADBU since 2014. Volunteers will work in collaboration with students from the Department of Social Work on community development projects in response to social issues identified by the community. In the past,  activities have included the renovation of Anganwadis (pre-schools) and running workshops in response to social issues in the community.As a Volunteer, I must collect a minimum amount of €750 through fundraising by 31st May. This year, because the volunteering is virtual, all of  these funds will go directly to UCDVO’s overseas partners and contribute to their community development programmes.Thank you for your support!
