Hello! My name is Maeve and I am a 3rd year medicine student in UCD. Next summer for the month of July 2020 I will be travelling to Kisiizi, Uganda with UCD Volunteer Overseas. UCD VO is a charitable organisation which gives students, staff and alumni the opportunity to volunteer overseas in different counties working on sustainable development projects. I will be travelling over with a team of physiotherapy, nursing and nutrition students. For four weeks I will be volunteering in Kisiizi Hospital. We will be running a rehabilitation camp for children with Cerebral Palsy through which we aim to provide sustainable treatments for the children while educating families on their child's condition. We will also be running health, nutrition and disability workshops for the local community. Each volunteer is asked to raise a minimum of 1400 euro which will go directly to the project to provide resources such as physiotherapy equipment (e.g. wheelchairs and walking aids) and general resources for the hospital. I would really appreciate any donations no matter how small as every euro will make a difference!
