My Story
My name is Lauren Cooke and I am currently completing my final year of the Professional Masters in Physiotherapy, University College Dublin. As part of my final clinical placement this June, I have been provided with the opportunity to travel to Uganada alongside UCDVO and Nurture Africa to work as a paediatric physiotherapist. Before then, I must fundraise a minimum of €1450, all of which will be used to provide vital health services, healthcare equipment, education and livelihood programmes to children with disabilities and their families. I would be extremely grateful for any donations supporting this project - no amount is too small. Thank you for your help, every bit is greatly appreciated! Lauren <3 More Information on the Programme: UCDVO is a registered charitiy that provides UCD students, staff and alumni with the opportunity to engage in volunteer progammes for the benefits of disadvantaged communities overseas, in response to needs explicity identified by those communities. As part of this programme, volunteers will support community health and livelihood projects being implemented by UCDVO's partner Nurture Africa. Nurture Africa is an Irish-founded, internationally registered, non-governmental organisation that works in Uganda with a targeted focus on Healthcare, Education, Child Protection & Gender Equality and Economic Empowerment through business training and micro-finance projects. The Nurture Africa Health Centre provides quality HIV and primary health treatment to the most vulnerable children and parents/guardians in the Waskiso District, Uganda. UCDVO project activities include a rehabiliation camp for children with disabilites and their families. Over 280 children have been supported by Nurture Africa and UCDVO since 2015.
