We represent a 900 pupil school in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland. We are volunteers from the Parents Association, and are raising money to upgrade the outdoor sports facilities in Kinsale Community School. The school is currenty undergoing a major exension including a new gymnasium, a full sized indoor basketball court and a fitness suite. The costs of the extension and gym are being paid by the Department of Education and Skills but their grant does not cover improvements to the outdoor sports facilities. In the past few years the playing field at the school has often been waterlogged and unplayable. We want students in Kinsale to have access to the best quality playing surfaces for both organised sport and informal games throughout the school year. So the playing field has been re-surfaced with FIFA accredited all weather astro-turf and in the next few months a new 5 lane 300 metre running track will be put in place around the outside of the pitch. The semi oval areas at either end of the pitch will be used for tennis and other activities. The facilities will be made available to local primary schools free of charge and to the local sports organistions for a reasonable cost. We need to raise in excess of €160,000.
