Hey everyone, Kate here. I'm a final year physiotherapy student in UCD.This year i have been lucky enough to be chosen as part of a fabulous team of volunteers to travel to Kisiizi hospital in Uganda as a student leader, where we will spend 4 weeks. During this time we hope to run a CP camp in which we will provide sustainable treatment for the participants and help educate their families on how best to manage their child's condition and maximise their quality of life, as well as running nutritional work shops in the hospital and community. We’ll also be assisting in the day to day running of the hospital where ever we can. Each volunteer is asked to raise €2,600 to participate in the UCDVO projects. These funds support thevolunteer to carry out the above tasks for one month and also cover the costs of project resourcessuch as a rehabilitation camp, physiotherapy equipment, prostheses, educational resources andrefurbishment.
