UCD Volunteers Overseas is a registered Irish charity (charity no. 20055776) based in University College Dublin. In 2024, I will be one of over 50 volunteers from UCD participating in the volunteer programme aiding projects in Cambodia, Tanzania and Uganda. These programmes are carried out in partnership with local communities and partner organisations. As part of this programme, we will support a community health and livelihoods project being implemented by Nurture Africa. Nurture Africa is an Irish-founded, internationally registered, non-governmental organisation that works in Uganda with a targeted focus on Healthcare, Education, Child Protection & Gender Equality and Economic Empowerment through business training and micro-finance projects. I will be working on the project as part of a rehabilitation camp for children with disabilities and their families.  The funds raised will go to UCDVO’s overseas partners to fund the upcoming project in summer 2024 and contribute to their future development programmes.
