My Story

We are six teachers working in Temple Carrig Secondary School in Greystones, Co. Wicklow (John McGuinness, Eileen Keaveney, Kate Harney, Eoghan Cleary, Roz Gallie and Alicia Newton). We have in the past brought twenty Transition Year students to take part in the Mustardseed Community ‘Children For Children’  Ambassador programme in Jamaica. We were due to fly today (April 25th) with another group of TCG students however that has been postponed due to COVID19. We are all running a 'Marathon for Mustardseed', that's 42km in the next 7 days in order to raise vital funds for the charity. You can choose to donate whatever you can, no donation is too small. If you also wish, you could 'buy a kilometre for €24. If you choose to do so, we will run a kilometre in your name'. Mustardseed Communities in Jamaica has been hit, like many vulnerable communities, by the Coronavirus Pandemic. The vulnerable residents in Mustardseed need our support more than ever. All donations will go directly to Mustardseed Ireland to support the vulnerable residents of Sophie's Place.  Mustardseed Communities is an international non-profit organization dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable members of society, especially disabled and abandoned children in Jamaica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. The ‘Children for Children’ Ambassador programme offers Irish secondary school students the opportunity to volunteer in the Jamaican Mustard Seed Community. Students partake in tangible projects working with abandoned children and adults with disabilities, children with HIV/AIDS and teenage mothers. Thank you for your support.
