This year I am participating in the UCDVO Volunteering & Development Education Programme, a year long programme which includes a 4-week voluntary placement in Morogoro, Tanzania.The Morogoro project's main push is developing and improving upon education in technology, with volunteer's focusing on the computer skills of the teachers in their assigned schools. By doing this, not only are the teacher's developing valuable skills, but they are able to pass these skills onto their students, the next generation. As well as this aspect of the placement, there will also be opportunities to refurbish classrooms, hold summer camps forthe children, distribute books and educational resources, as well as possible construction projects. Throughout the next year, I will participate in a series of UCDVO Programme Days, including development education workshops, health & safety training and team-building activities before travelling overseas.The amount I have to fundraise is €2,650, which I know is a large amount, all of which I don’t expect to raise from this page, but whatever you can give would be hugely appreciated.
