Hi! My name is Jasmine Picard, I’m a 3rd-year medical undergraduate at UCD. I’ve been very lucky to be accepted into one of UCD Volunteer’s Overseas summer projects. UCD Volunteers Overseas is a registered charity who works with several partners over the year with collaborative projects in the summer. I will be going with 11 other members in June, to volunteer with the Holy Union Sister at the Matumaini Health Centre. The Matumaini Health Centre is located in Dars Es Salaam Tanzania and receives parents with children who have intellectual and physical disabilities. At the Matumaini Health Centre, they have a chance to get access to rehabilitation services, nutrition support, and general advice.  We will spend a month, assisting and helping to improve the rehabilitation of these children as well as advising the parents and the community on how to support these children better. I’m very honoured to have the great privilege of being to participate in such an amazing project.  The Holy Union Sisters in the Matumaini Health Centre rely on donations in order to provide these services for children, and thus I am aiming to raise 1450 € to go towards this volunteer project. This will go towards improving the rehabilitation resources such as physiotherapy equipment.
