Hi everyone,This summer, I have been given the opportunity to travel to Andhra Pradesh in South India with UCD Volunteers overseas as part of my Physiotherapy elective placement.I will be travelling with four other Physiotherapy students and one chartered Physiotherapist where we will be working alongside a group called 'Asha Jyothi Handicapped centre' for the month of June.Here we will provide Physiotherapy to underprivileged children who have various disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Polio, Downs syndrome and Speech and Hearing impairments.We will also be working closely alongside family members and carers in order to create a platform of education that we hope will help these children on their path of rehabilitation and independence, where possible.All volunteers are asked to raise 1400 euro which will be put solely towards the project itself.These funds will help us perform our therapy effectively over the month as well as proiding much needed equipment such as walking aids, gym equipment, specialised seating and various other materials that will help make our work worthwhile!Any contribution you can make, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated and will make a big difference!Thanks,James
