My Story

Hi fellow changemakers, I am Gauri Garg, a master's student at University College Dublin. Since the past 7 years, I have tried tovolunteer my time to help contribute to society in any way possible. Thisyear, I am a student leader at UCD Volunteering Oversees for the NurtureAfrica - Business and Livelihoods Project, Uganda. Nurture Africa is an Irish founded internationally registered NGO that works in Ugandawith a targeted focus upon Healthcare, Education, Child Protection & GenderEquality and Economic Empowerment through business training and micro-financeprojects. In 2021, UCDVO volunteers facilitated a business training programme for 30 guardians together with Nurture Africastaff. The training focused on the essential steps needed to evaluate themselves as entrepreneurs, explore their business ideas and do the requiredresearch towards developing a business plan. The project activities for this year will include supporting Nurture Africa’sbusiness & livelihoods programme, training for Parents/Guardians on how tostart or develop an income-generating activity and helping small businessowners/start-ups develop business and marketing plans, supervised by Nurture Africa Livelihoods coordinator. This year our aim is to raise atleast 10,000 euros amongst all volunteers involved in this project. All the money raised for the cause will directly go to our partner NGOwhich will contribute to Nurture Africa’s ongoing livelihoods/education and vocational training programmes. I request you to help me raise 1200 euros in the next 2 months and would highly appreciate any contribution that will help empower the community in Uganda. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
