Hello, My name is Eva and I'm a first year Engineering student in UCD. This summer I have been chosen to go to Somoto in Nicaragua as part of the UCD Volunteers Overseas programme. Myself and 22 others will travel to a rural community in Nicaragua where we will undertake in construction and educational projects over a four week period. Previously UCDVO students who have travelled to Nicaragua have constructed many facilities for native school children including basketball courts, dormitories, the management of the library, aswell as the supply of running water. In order to make this project possible we are required to raise €2600. The money will be used to fund the work that we will be carrying out and the considerable personal travel expenses that go along withtransporting 23 UCD students to Central America! I also plan to hold asome fundraising events in the coming months to help raise funds. Any donation big or small will certainly go a long way in making this project possible.
