My Story
I've recently team up with Habitat with Humanity Ireland to volunteer on the 2018 Student Build in Zambia, but to do this I need your help! I work a part time job in Dublin on the weekends, but as I am a full time master's student I only have time for a shift or two a week, meaning I can't fund it alone. The total cost of the trip is 2900, so I'm hoping to make the rest of it through fundraising which I have kickstarted with this Altruism account Any help is greatly appreciated! What I'm DoingHabitat for Humanity is an international non-profit organization that works to eliminate poverty housing around the globe. I am working with the Ireland office in the Global Village program, in which I'll travel to Zambia for two weeks to help build homes for families in need. Zambia is an incredible impoverished country with two-thirds of the population living without proper housing and on less the a doller a day. What is CoversThe cost of the trip will cover transportation, food and water, accommodation, as well as built in funding for the charity's work. The money donated goes directly to Habitat for humanity through the Altruism account. Why I'm Doing itI have been given a lot of opportunities that have little to do with me and a lot to do with luck and circumstance, and I've recently been looking for ways to use my abilities and opportunites in such a way that benefits more than just myself. By helping to provide housing, it is my hope that it will create a safe and healthy environment in which a family can build a better life. Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
