Hi everyone,This summer I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to travel to Nansana, Uganda with UCD Volunteers Overseas Charity where I will complete my elective physiotherapy placement. I will be travelling with 4 other physiotherapy students, a chartered physiotherapist and 15 other general volunteers in June 2019. Here I will be volunteering with Nurture Africa, a healthcare centre  working on disability awareness, education and physiotherapy programmes for children and families with physical disabilities. Our team will be providing physiotherapy and play therapy to children with physical disabiliites such as Cerebral Palsy. Aswell as this we will aslo be providing education and support to families so they can continue this much needed therapy at home. Each volunteer is asked to raise a minimum of 1400 euro  all of which will go directly towards the project.  These funds will cover the cost of a rehabilitation camp for children with cerebral palsy, physioterapy equipment, prosthesis, wheelchairs, walking aids, specialised seating, etc. Furthermore the funds will help to maintain other healthcare resources, which we hope will continue once we leave the project.I would wholeheartedly appreciate any donations of any size, to make this project as beneficial and worthwhile  for the children and families I will be working with.
