Hi everyone!

My name's Edie Connors and I'm hoping to travel this year with a team of 30 from UCDVO to Vijayawada, South India. I'm so grateful to have been given this opportunity but I first must raise €2600. It will be my first time volunteering with UCDVO but I'm enthusiastic to learn from the experience and hope that I can reach this target in time, which could not be done without your help!

The project itself involves us volunteers raising funds and awareness before June and then travelling out to spend a month living in two "children's villages" providing educational projects, running sports camps, youth clubs and much more. Physiotherapy students on the team work in the neighbouring clinic providing their services guided by a qualified physio(another volunteer on the team). These "children's villages" are run by the international NGO "Care and Share", which UCDVO work in partnership with. They are essentially orphanages, home to children orphaned or abandoned as a result of HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty.

For those wondering, the fundraising target is broken down into €1400 for the volunteer participation costs(flights, accomodation, training, local transport) and €1200 to the cost of our project(eg. educational recources, physiotherapy equiptment).
