Hey lads,This summer I will travel to Somoto in Northern Nicaragua aspart of the UCD Volunteers Overseas programme. Along with a team of 22 otherstudents, I will travel to a rural community in Nicaragua where we willundertake construction and educational projects over a four week period.Working in tandem with several Nicaraguan charities, UCDVO has been going toNicaragua for the past 8 years and some of the results of their work in thepast include water drills, basketball courts and aiding the construction ofhealth centres. I am absolutely thrilled to have been given this opportunityand am really excited about going to Nicaragua and hopefully making a positiveimpact on the lives of the locals. Each of us is expected to raise €2,600 in order to fund the work that we will becarrying out and the considerable personal travel expenses that go along withtransporting 23 UCD students to Central America! I will be aiming to fund someof the target fee myself as well as organising various fundraising activitiesthroughout the year.
