Hi Everyone! As some of you may know, I have been lucky enough to be chosen to travelto India with UCD Volunteers Overseas this summer to spend 4 weeks providing physiotherapy services for children in the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre. I will be working with 3 other students and a physio tutoralongside the local physio and orthotist where we will work with the children attending the centre and complete a residential camp for children with Cerebral Palsy and their parents.  The children willreceive daily physiotherapy as well as meals provided by the Sisters in theCentre.  Each child will stay in the centre for the duration of the campalong with one of their parents. The aim is to provide education, sustainable exercise programmes and equipment to these children and their parents. We will work closely with the orthotist to make seating, splints and other equipment for these children to help improve their quality of life. To travel, each volunteer must raise €2,600. €1,200 of this will go directly to the children through the provision of equipment such as seating and splints. Last year, some of this money was used to buy an exercise bike for the centre. I will be funding €1,400 myself to cover the cost of flights, accommodation and food however I would really appreciate any donations, no matter how small, that will go directly towards the equipment and the camp for the children.
