My Story
This year I have been given the opportunity to return to Ruaha, Tanzania as part of UCDVO's 2018 Overseas project, and I need to raise €2600 to get there! This past summer, I volunteered with UCDVO in Ruaha, and provided English language classes and Computer Skills classes to both students and teachers in Mhovu Primary School, Kifinga Village, Kidatu, Tanzania. I was part of a team of 23 volunteers who spent 4 weeks in the area running education programmes. Every afternoon, we provided summer camps to over 100 students. The money we raised contributed to providing over 70 computers in 3 new computer labs in 3 different primary schools in Ruaha. In addition we brought 0.5 tonnes of school books and supplies to a number of schools in the area. The four weeks I spent in Ruaha last year were some of the best weeks of my life, and I am delighted to be chosen to volunteer again. This summer, I'll be volunteering as a student leader, helping to lead a group of 17 volunteers on the education project again this year. We will be building on the work that we achieved last year, and setting up new computer labs in new schools in the area. The fundraising target for the project is €2600, with approximately €1200 going towards the costs of the project (educational resources, computer laboratories, etc.) and €1400 going towards volunteer costs (flights, lodgement, etc.). All personal costs, such as vaccines, etc., are covered by each individual volunteer. Any donations would be greatly appreciated! If you've any questions, feel free to message me on Facebook or email me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to answer!
