Hi, my name's Andrea Whelton, and I'm a first year Business and Law Student in UCD. This summer, I'm travelling to Ruaha, Tanzania with 18 others for four weeks to volunteer with UCDVO.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     During the project, we will be providing English Language and Computer classes to both students and teachers in three different primary schools in the area, as well as supplying the necessary school books and computers to each of the schools. We will also be providing summer camps in the afternoon for a number of students.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   This is the second year that UCDVO are sending a group to Ruaha, and we aim to build on what was achieved last year by the volunteers. We aim to provide refresher courses to the primary schools from last year over the weekends to ensure that progress is continuing to be made.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Whilst overseas, we will be working closely with two existing charities in Tanzania; TanzEd and Camara Education. TanzEd aims to increase access to government primary schooling by delivering programmes with local community members to ensure as many children as possible enrol in school and complete their primary education. Camara Education works with UCDVO to collect, refurbish and transport computers from Ireland to Ruaha.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            The total fundraising target for the project is €2600, all of which will be used to fund the project (€1200 directly towards to project and €1400 to cover the cost of flights, lodgement, etc.).
