Hi Folks, I am doing the mini marathon on 2nd June by raising money for Arthritis Ireland and especially for children who are suffering and waiting in pain for treatment. Arthritis in children is called juvenile idiopathicarthritis, orjuvenile arthritis (JA).Juvenile idiopathic arthritis simplymeans arthritiswith no known cause in children or young people under 16. The word ‘juvenile’ means under 16years whendiagnosed. ‘Idiopathic’ means doctors do not yet know what causesthe illness, and ‘arthritis’ means that at least one joint – such as the knee, elbow or wrist– is inflamed (swollen, painful and/or stiff).Doctors use the term ‘juvenile idiopathicarthritis’ to mean arthritiswhich begins before a child is 16 and lasts morethan 6 weeks.Juvenile arthritis is an auto-immune disease thataffects joints.Joints are the points on your body where your bones meet. In your legs, bones meet at the knees and in your arms, bones meet at the elbows. When you have juvenile arthritis, the joints allover your bodycan swell and hurt. That makes it hard to move around at times. You may feels tiff in the morning which could ease out throughout the day.Arthritis affects more than 1,000 children inIreland. There is no cure for arthritis but there is plentythat can bedone to control the disease with the right medicines and throughtaking exerciseand eating a healthy, ballanced diet.People of all ages, from newborn babies to grandparents, can get arthritis. Arthritis simply means inflammation of thejoints and there are overa 100 different types of arthritis. Lets help these children together by donating to this great cause. Thanking you in advance.Love Ana xxx
