My Story
I am delighted to be participating in Strictly UCD, to raise funds for UCD Volunteers Overseas. This will see me put through my paces in a gruelling dance training regime, and will culminate in “a night to remember” in O’Reilly Hall on the 4th March, when both my left feet will be on full view. Of course, I’m not doing this just for the amusement of family and friends — I am hoping to raise funds for a really important and dynamic charity: UCD Volunteers Overseas. UCDVO, as its known, does some amazing work through the volunteer efforts of UCD students, staff, and alumni. But the projects being undertaken — supporting communities in India, Haiti, Nicaragua, Tanzania and Uganda, for example — are not cheap to organise and implement. Whether it’s installing a computer lab in Tanzania, teaching in a children’s village in South India, or running a rehabilitation camp for children with disabilities in Uganda, your donation can have a big impact on the lives of people in these communities. You can support me with a donation here, and there will also be a chance to buy tickets for the event. Thank you in advance for your support. Amanda Gibney (UCDVO Trustee)
