Hello everyone, My name is Alannah Dolan and I am a second year Medicine student in UCD. This summer, I have been given the wonderful opportunity to volunteer with UCD Volunteers Overseas in a semi-urban, pover-stricken town called Nansana in Uganda. In 2015, UCDVO began working in partnership with a local organisation called Nurture Africa on a healthcare project in Nansana, Uganda. Nurture Africa has been working in Uganda since 2003, running a local health centre in the town which provides access to Healthcare, Education, Sustainable Livelihoods and Child Welfare for vulnerable families within the area of operation in Nansana. As Volunteers, we must all raise €2600 for the project which will go towards funding my own upkeep as well as the project itself. Although I aim to raise the majority of funds myself, any donations would be a huge help. With your support, we hope to provide physiotherapy services to local patients within the healthcare centre, run educational workshops for vulnerable families and healthcare staff, screen children for malnutrition and provide support for school children by engaging in play therapy and first aid training. Any donations, no matter how big or small would be hugely appreciated and would be going towards an amazing cause. Thank you very much for reading and I hope you will support our project.
