I am delighted to be have been offered the opportunity to travel to Kisiizi, Southwest Uganda with UCD Volunteers Overseas Charity as part of my elective placement for this coming summer for 4 weeks. I will be travelling with 4 other Physiotherapy Students, a chartered Physiotherapist,  Medicine, Nutrition and Nursing Students in July 2020 to Kisiizi Hospital. Here, I will be volunteering as a student physio working with local families on disability awareness and providing physiotherapy programmes to the children in these families. We will provide therapy to children with conditions such as Cerebral Palsy and we will be working closely with families to provide them the knowledge and support to be able to continue all of this when they return home. As a volunteer, we are all asked to raise €1400 with the funds going directly towards  physiotherapy equipment, wheel chairs, walking aids, walking frames, specialised seating, prostheses, a Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation Camp for the children and development of community services that will make a difference long term. I would really appreciate any contribution, no matter how big or small it is to help make as big a difference as possible to the families and children. Thanks a mill for the support! Áine
