As some of you may know I have been lucky enough to bechosen to travel to North-East India to the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre with three other student physio and a tutor for 4 weeks. This is a school forchildren who are deaf or have physical disabilities. This physiotherapy project has been running since 2016. During this time we will be providing physiotherapy to children with Cerebral Palsy in the area in the form of a two week intensive residential camp which will provide daily physiotherapy intervention. We will also be working in the community to raise awareness around various health issues including ante and postnatal care, identifying and managing disability and developmental miles stones. We will provide physiotherapy to the children attending the school for their physical difficulties. Some of the conditions we will be working with include Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Developmental Delay, Muscular Dystrophy, Congenital defects and Scoliosis. We will be working closely with an Orthotist to make seating, splints and other equipment for these children to help maximise function and improve their quality of life. As part of this we have been asked to fundraise a minimum of €2600, €1200 of this will go directly to the project including the provision ofequipment such as splints, prostheses, educational resources and aids such as wheelchairs, walking frames and specialised seating. As the rest will be going towards my flights, food, accommodation etc. I would greatly appreciate yoursupport in helping me raise the €1200 that will go directly to the project. Any donation, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated as every contribution will be a huge help in reaching my goal to make this project as worthwhile as possible for the children and families I will be working with.
