This summer I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to travel to Andhra Pradesh in South India for my physiotherapy elective placement. I will be working at the Ashajyothi Handicapped Welfare Society for 4 weeks with 4 other students and a chartered physiotherapist.  The Ashajyothi Handicapped Welfare Society is a voluntary organization that provides services for education, development and rehabilitation of children with physical and mental disabilities who have been abandoned or are from underprivileged backgrounds. We will be providing physiotherapy to children with a variety of conditions such as cerebral palsy, polio or developmental delays. In order to complete this project we must raise 2650 euro. I will be covering all my own costs for the project, but with your support would hope to raise money that will go directly to the project to provide children with equipment such as wheelchairs, splints, prostheses and other resources that will help sustain the work we do after we leave, such as training and support for families living with children with disabilities as well as development programmes and education for local physiotherapy staff.  Any donation at all would be hugely appreciated and will certainly go towards a worthy cause.
