Story
In July I'm off to Rwanda as a VSO volunteer for six months. I'll be based with two disability organisations in Kigali, supporting their research and advocacy work. I've worked for VSO for the last six years. They're a wonderful organisation that send volunteers to contribute to education, health, livelihoods and governance programmes in some of the world's poorest countries.
VSO is also very good with money, so your donation will go a long way. Volunteers make the equivalent of a local wage, and VSO do not pay their staff big salaries, no matter how often you ask, to the point where you say 'screw this I'm going to Rwanda' and given the nature of the organisation that's a hard position to back down from. They'll just send you there.
Here is some more information on the work I'll be doing -
