My Story

Hujambo, thank you for visiting this page! This year I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to participate in the UCDVO Volunteering and Development Education Programme, a year long programme dedicated to responding to the needs explicitly identified by disadvantaged communities overseas. A component of which is a 4 week voluntary placement in Morogoro, Tanzania! Throughout the year, I will participate in a series of UCDVO Programme Days, including development education workshops, health and safety training and team-building activities before travelling overseas. My project is focused primarily on providing computer education to teachers and students in Kingalu Secondary School in Morogoro as well as offering English lessons and camp activities for students. €1,200 of the money will be allocated for project costs such as a computer drop and classroom renovations. The remaining €1,450 is allocated for flights, accommodation, transport and meals during the week while weekends will be funded personally. A large amount of money but any contribution is sincerely appreciated and brings me one step closer to my goal. Donations can be made in person or via this page and all contributions will be lodged immediately to the UCD Volunteers Overseas account. I kindly ask to ensure that my name is attached to the transaction as you will be donating to the Morogoro project. As a Law with Politics student, I recognise the necessity of sustainable development projects like this so that we can work towards a more socially just world. The skills I learn throughout this programme and the issues I learn that are faced by communities overseas can help me to recognise social problems at home and also help to cultivate a culture of activism and solidarity both at home and abroad. I have received so much fantastic support and encouragement already and I am so grateful to anyone who is in a position to donate for their contribution! I look forward to sharing my experience over the summer! THANK YOU:))
