My Story

Still recovering from the earthquake of 2010, once again the people of Haiti have been hit hard by natural disaster.  Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti on Tuesday the 4th October as a Category 4 storm, producing heavy rains, high winds and storm surge along the coastal region.350,000 people are in need of immediate assistance, with estimates putting the death toll at almost 500 people.  Initial indications suggest that over 29,000 homes have been completely destroyed or severely damaged and that 1.4 million people are in need of immediate assistance.Habitat for Humanity is already in action on the ground in Haiti, helping those communities affected the most.  In fact we have been in Haiti for 32 years, so we are well placed to assist the families and communities that have been affected by this disaster.Habitat for Humanity offices around the world are now fundraising to help support the relief effort.  Here in Ireland we can also do our bit.  We have set a target of just €10,000 to raise  to go towards Habitat for Humanity's global effort to raise funds for those communities affected the most. As we receive more information from our staff in Haiti we will update this page. Please help the people of Haiti and give as generously as you can.  Thank you.
