Hi everyone,My name is Christine O'Neill, and I am a 4th year physiotherapy student in UCD. Last summer, I spent 4 weeks volunteering in the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre, providing much needed Physiotherapy to the schoolchildren and local rural children. This year, I have been given the fantastic opportunity to return to Ferrando as a Student Leader, alongside 3 other students and a Physiotherapy Clinical Tutor. The Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre is a school for children with hearing, speech and physical disabilities. There are three resident physiotherapists on site, whom we will be working with during the 4 week placement. We will provide physiotherapy treatment to the schoolchildren and a 2 week intensive physiotherapy camp for the local children, while also aiming to reassess the progress of the children who attended the camp in 2016. We will also provide educational workshops on important health issues to the local healthcare workers, and to mothers in the area. The money fundraised will go towards providing much needed resources for the physiotherapy department, equipment for the children to use at home, and also support the families to allow them to attend the camp (providing them with food and accomodation for the 2 weeks). Part of your donation will also go towards facilitating me to travel and complete this fantastic project.I would really appreciate any donation you could make towards this great cause. I will be organising some events throughout the year to help me reach my fundraising goal, while also contributing some of my own personal funds to the project, as I know how far each penny goes in the Centre.  Closer to the time, I will be collecting children's toys and books to bring to India with me, to give to the Sisters and the children in the Centre.Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thanks for the support!
