Hey Everybody,My Name is Alan, I am a final year Geography and English student in UCD.As a part of the UCD Volunteers Overseas team, I am fundraising and taking part in the annual project in North-East.UCDVO have been working in partnership with Assam Don Bosco University in Guwahati and the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre in Shillong. The project involves volunteers from Ireland and India working in collaboration with NGOs, missionaries and student groups on implementing community development and physiotherapy projects. While on project myself and a number of other UCD students will be working with NGO's to provide teaching, mental health awareness, collaborate with NGOs, missionaries and student groups on implementing community development projects based on needs identified at the grassroots level, e.g. Literacy, English language, healthcare, physiotherapy, youth participation, awareness raising and also to enhance cultural awareness and solidarity between university students and NGOs for the purpose of development activity. Each student's funraising goal will have many different benefits to the people of these areas and will hopefully make a difference to their lives, no matter how small. Any sort of help with reaching my goal would be very much appreciated and will go towards a really good cause. Thanks very much,Alan.
